Chickpea Cakes, know in Portuguese as Pastéis de Grão-de-bico, are a deliciously moist cake made with puréed chickpeas and ground almond, rounded off with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
They have an earthy, slightly smoky taste and a soft texture, and an aftertaste of almond. They are authentic Portuguese pastries made using a traditional family recipe from the Portuguese region of Estremadura.
Certified gluten-free by the Portuguese Coeliac Association.
INGREDIENTS: sugar, pasteurised EGG yolk, chickpeas (12%), water, ground ALMOND, corn flour, potassium sorbate, cinnamon.
